Menus vary by pages, sections and the state of the file you have, so the design side is quoted from the figures below and the print side is priced by format. Every job is quoted properly before you pay anything, and nothing prints until you approve the proof.
The jobs, in the order people ask
- Menu price update — from $49. On a menu we hold or a clean PDF, any format. Free with a reprint of 500 or more.
- Book menu to takeaway — from $249. Your book menu or flat A3 re-typeset onto a takeaway DL or a flat A4, in the same look.
- AI-generated menu fixed — from $249. Every word set again in real type, the errors corrected against your own list, and a file you can update next time.
- Rebuild from what you have — a PDF, a photo, a Word file or a Canva export. Quoted as an update or a remap, depending on the state of it.
- New menu designed — from $349 for a flat or folded menu; a booklet is $89 a page, from $449.
- Dietary and allergen icons, photo retouching — added to any of the above.
- Reorders keep the design and change only the prices.
Print is separate and priced by format: 250 flat A4 menus on 250gsm gloss from $0.47 each, 500 A4 menus roll-folded to DL on 250gsm matt from $0.59 each. Delivery is included in those prices. The four quoted formats have no list price, because the sheet, the stock and the finishing move it.

Most restaurants do not need a menu designed. They need the one they have fixed: prices updated, a dish taken off, the book menu re-typeset onto a takeaway DL, or the menu somebody made with an image generator set again in real type so it stops carrying typos. That is what this page sells, with the print behind it. A price update starts at $49, and it is free when you reprint 500 or more.
The six formats
- Flat A3
- Dine-in, laminated or synthetic
- Flat A4, one page
- Cafes, short menus, weekly changes
- Booklet
- 8–16pp, saddle-stitched
- A4 roll-folded to DL
- 6pp, the standard takeaway
- 8pp roll-fold DL
- The bigger takeaway menu
- Bi-fold DL
- 4pp, small takeaway or drinks
Two of the six are priced live: a flat A4 on the flyers configurator and the roll fold on brochures. The other four are quoted, as are laminate and synthetic stock on the flat formats.
Common questions
Can you update the prices on our existing menu?
Yes. Send the menu you have and the new prices, and it comes back as a proof in 2 working days. From $49 on a menu we hold or a clean PDF, and free when the update goes with a reprint of 500 or more. If the file is a photo or a flattened image, it becomes a rebuild instead and we say so before starting.
What size should a folded menu be?
For the table, an A3 sheet folded to A4 on 250gsm matt, or an A4 sheet folded to A5 for a shorter menu; for takeaway, an A4 sheet folded to DL. The free fold planner shows the panel widths and which page is the cover for each, with the template to set it up in, and folded menus order from the brochures page.
Can you turn our book menu into a takeaway menu?
Yes, and it is the job we are asked for most after price updates. The book menu or flat A3 is re-typeset onto an A4 roll-folded to DL, an 8pp DL or a flat A4, in the same look, with the sections that make sense on a takeaway. From $249, 3 to 5 working days to a proof.
Can you fix a menu that was made with AI?
Yes. Generated menus carry typos, invented characters and prices that cannot be edited because the text was drawn as shapes rather than set as type. We keep the look, set every word again in real type, correct it against your own list, and hand back a file that can be updated. From $249. The corrected wording comes from you, not from us.
How much does restaurant menu design cost in Australia?
Here, a price update is from $49, a remap or an AI fix from $249, a new flat or folded menu from $349, and a booklet $89 a page from $449. Every figure includes GST. Print is priced separately by format, and the two live-priced formats start at $0.47 each for a flat A4 at 250.
What paper should a restaurant menu be printed on?
A menu that is handled every service wants 250gsm or heavier with a laminate, or a synthetic stock that wipes clean; a takeaway menu that gets read once and kept on a fridge is fine on 150 or 200gsm. See paper weights and laminate finishes. If you are not sure, tell us where the menu lives and we will say.
Laminated or synthetic: which lasts longer on a table?
Synthetic, usually. A laminated paper menu is sealed on both faces but the edge is still paper, and it goes first where hands and spills reach it. A synthetic sheet is plastic through, wipes clean and does not crack at a fold. Laminate is cheaper and fine for a menu that changes seasonally; synthetic pays for itself on one that stands for a year.
How many menus does a 60-seat restaurant need?
For dine-in, about one menu per two seats plus a third again for wear and spills, so 40 to 50 for 60 seats, and more if the menu is shared across a table rarely. Takeaway menus are a different count: order for the number you will hand out or letterbox in the next two to three months, which is why they run from 500.
How long does a menu take, design and print?
Design 2 working days for an update and 3 to 5 for a remap, an AI fix or a new design, to a proof you approve. Then 2-4 working days printed and delivered. Need it quicker? From 2 working days, quoted per job.
Do you handle allergen and dietary icons?
Yes, we set them as part of any job. The content and accuracy of allergen and dietary information is yours to specify and confirm; we print exactly what you approve on the proof.

Start from the format you need
Each one lands on the order request with the format filled in
Flat A3
The dine-in sheet. Laminated or synthetic so it is wiped and reused, 20 to 100 copies.
Flat A4, one page
Cafes and short menus that change weekly. Cheap to reprint, or laminated to reuse.
Booklet
Big menus and wine lists, 8 to 16 pages, saddle-stitched with a heavier cover.
A4 roll-folded to DL
The standard takeaway menu and letterbox drop, six panels, 500 to 2,500.
8pp roll-fold DL
The bigger takeaway menu, for a kitchen with a hundred dishes.
Bi-fold DL
Small takeaway, pizza, or a drinks list. Four panels.
The menu somebody made with AI
Why the fix is a re-set, not a touch-up
A growing share of the menus we are sent were made with an image generator. They look finished on a screen and go wrong on paper, for one reason: the text was never type. The generator drew shapes that look like letters, so the file carries typos, invented characters, dishes that do not exist and prices nobody can edit, and it prints soft at any size. No software fixes that. The guide explains it.
What we do is keep the look and set every word again in real type, correct the list against the one you give us, and hand back a file that can be updated next time the prices move. From $249, and we have fixed many of them.
The corrected wording and the prices come from you. We do not guess what a dish was meant to be called.
Two clocks, stated separately
Design first. A price update is back to you in 2 working days. A remap, an AI fix or a new design is 3 to 5 working days. You see a proof on your phone, mark up anything that is wrong, and approve it; nothing goes to print until you do.
Then print. 2-4 working days from payment, delivered, and your proof page carries a private tracker link that shows where the job is, live, with the due date on it. Need it sooner? Ask — a tighter date is quoted per job — talk to us or put the date on the order request.
The design can go anywhere in Australia, because a PDF has no freight. Print is delivered Australia-wide (allow 1 to 2 working days longer outside NSW, QLD and VIC); if you are further away we design it and you print it locally, and the file is yours.
Who does the work
Over 100 menus, in Australia and Asia
The menus are set by our own studio, which has designed over a hundred of them for restaurants in Australia and Asia and fixed a good many more. That is why the price list above reads the way it does: the common jobs are named and priced, because they come up every week, and the unusual ones are quoted rather than guessed.
Examples will appear here as restaurants give us permission to show their menus. We do not show a client's menu without it.
