Read it from where people stand
Shopfront lettering is read from the footpath, not from across the road. Set the letter height for the distance people actually are. The figures are here.

Glass decals and window signage are the same thing under two names, and they do three quite different jobs. Cut lettering puts your name, hours and phone number on the door with the glass showing through the letters. A frosted band gives privacy at eye height without losing daylight, and is what stops people walking into a full-height pane. One-way perforated film carries a full-colour graphic that people outside see and people inside see through. Priced per job because the glass, the film and whether it reads from the footpath or from the desk all change what the right answer is.
Frosted film at eye height on a large clear pane is a safety marking as well as a design choice, and some tenancies and building codes require one. Check your lease and your glazier before deciding the height by eye.
Yes — a visibility marking on a glass door or a full-height pane is the same frosted or opaque film as a privacy band, sized and positioned to be seen. Frameless glass doors and full-height glazing generally have to carry one so nobody walks into them, and the requirement comes from the Australian Standard for glass in buildings rather than from us. We make the film to the specification you or your glazier give us; we do not certify compliance and will not tell you what your building needs. If an inspection has flagged it, get the height and the marking type from your glazier or building surveyor, send us those, and we will cut it to match.
Yes — it is one of the most common small jobs we do. Make the sign in the free opening hours sign maker, download the PDF and send it with a quote request: we print it full colour on vinyl at A4 or A3, to go inside the glass facing out, or cut your hours and logo as vinyl lettering for the look of a sign-written door. Either comes back as a proof first.
They are quoted per job rather than from a price list, because cut lettering, frosted film and one-way perforated are three different materials at three different prices and the area varies with your glass. Send a photo from the footpath and the width and height of the pane, and you get a written price with GST included within 4 business hours.
Yes. Window decals, window stickers and window graphics are the same job: vinyl cut or printed for glass. Cut lettering lets the glass show through, frosted film gives privacy and keeps the daylight, and one-way vinyl is perforated, so a full-colour graphic outside still lets you see out. Each is sized to your pane.
Frosted film obscures the view in both directions and keeps the daylight, which is what you want at eye height in an office or a bathroom. One-way perforated film carries a full-colour printed graphic that reads from outside while people inside can still see out, which is what you want on a shopfront you do not want to black out.
Usually yes, for lettering and small panels, and we will say so rather than selling you an install you do not need. Use soapy water rather than applying dry, work from one edge, and squeegee outward. Large panes and perforated film are a different matter — those are worth fitting properly, and we can arrange it in NSW and QLD.
Yes. Vinyl peels from glass cleanly, and any adhesive left behind comes off with a solvent and a scraper made for glass. Glass is the easiest surface there is to reverse. The one exception is film left on a sun-facing pane for many years past its life, where the peel gets slow and fiddly.
Inside, almost always. It is protected from weather, cleaning and vandalism there and lasts far longer. Outside application is for cases where the inside face cannot be reached or something is fixed against it. Remember that inside-applied artwork has to be reverse-cut so it reads correctly from the street.
Yes, printed and cut at the nearest of our presses in NSW, QLD and VIC and couriered to you, with delivery included in the quote; allow 1 to 2 working days longer outside NSW, QLD and VIC. Fitting is available in New South Wales and Queensland; everywhere else we supply the film ready to apply. If the job is a whole fascia rather than glass, shopfront signage is measured on site instead.
Yes. Window signs come as cut vinyl lettering, frosted privacy bands or one-way perforated film, fitted to the size of your glass. Send the glass size and what it should say, and we quote it and show a proof before anything is made.

Four things that decide whether it looks professional or homemade
Shopfront lettering is read from the footpath, not from across the road. Set the letter height for the distance people actually are. The figures are here.
Vinyl applied to the inside face has to be cut mirrored so it reads correctly from outside. It is an easy thing to get wrong and an expensive one, which is what the proof step is for.
A hairline serif or a 1mm stroke cuts badly, lifts at the edges and peels first. Keep strokes reasonably solid, or print the fine work on clear film rather than cutting it.
Glass is unforgiving of bubbles. A little soapy water lets the vinyl float into place before it grabs. Dry application on a large pane is how a first attempt becomes a second order.
