Brochure and menu fold planner
Choose the sheet and the fold and see exactly how to set it up: the width of every panel, where the folds fall, the bleed and safe area, and which panel becomes the front cover. Then download the matching template — A4 to DL in a roll or Z fold, A4 to A5, A3 to A4, or an A3 sheet in thirds.

Common questions
What size is a trifold brochure?
In Australia a trifold brochure is almost always an A4 sheet, 297 × 210mm, folded into three panels to DL, 99 × 210mm — the size of a DL envelope. Set it up at 303 × 216mm, which is A4 plus 3mm bleed on every edge.
Why are roll-fold panels different widths?
Because they wrap inside each other. The flap that tucks in has to be a millimetre or two narrower than the panel it folds into, or it catches on the fold and the brochure will not close flat. On an A4 to DL roll fold the panels are 98, 99 and 100mm. A Z fold does not wrap, so its three panels are equal at 99mm.
Which panel is the front cover of a trifold brochure?
On the outside of the sheet it is the right-hand panel — the widest one on a roll fold. The middle panel of the outside is the back cover, and the left-hand panel is the flap you see first when you open the cover. The planner shades the front cover, and the templates label every panel with what it becomes.
What size should a folded restaurant menu be?
For the table, an A3 sheet folded to A4 gives four full A4 pages, on 250gsm matt so it holds its shape; a shorter menu fits an A4 sheet folded to A5. For takeaway, an A4 sheet folded to DL fits the bag and the letterbox. The menu printing guide covers stock and when to reprint.
Can I set up a folded brochure in Canva?
Yes. Make the canvas the flat sheet plus bleed — 303 × 216mm for A4 — and upload the blank PDF from the planner, or place the guide PDF as a locked background layer and delete it before you export. Export as PDF Print with crop marks and bleed. The Canva print checker will tell you if anything is too close to a fold.
Will heavy stock crack along the fold?
Not with us: every brochure is scored before it is folded, which is what stops 200gsm and 250gsm cracking along the crease. On a dark background across a fold, a slight line can still show where the ink stretches — a matt stock hides it best.
