Add dimensions to a photo

Measure a photo in your browser: this tool draws measurements onto a photo of your wall, window or vehicle — your file never leaves your computer. Mark the dimensions, download it, and send it with your quote request.

How did the tool do?

Automated · not a substitute for a person

If what comes out is not right, send it to us

These tools run on their own in your browser, and automatic is not the same as correct. A trace can miss a curve or turn a smooth arc into short straight segments. A cut contour can clip a tight corner. Bleed can be added to a file that was never built to carry it, and a check can pass artwork that still has something wrong with it only a person would notice. Treat what comes out as a starting point, not a proof.

If you are not happy with the result, send it to us and we will set the artwork up properly — free when you print the job with us. No setup fee, nothing to pay for the time. We would far rather spend twenty minutes on a file than have you print something you are not pleased with, and you still see a proof before anything runs. If you are printing it somewhere else, we will still set it up — that is artwork setup, at a fixed price from $29.

Why a dimensioned photo beats a list of numbers

"The sign area is 2400 by 600" tells a sign maker almost nothing. Is that the whole fascia or the panel inside it? Is the awning in the way? Is there a downpipe at one end? Is the surface brick, render, or cladding that will not hold a fixing?

A photo with the measurements drawn on it answers all of that at once, and it is the difference between an indicative range and a quote somebody will stand behind.

What to capture for a signage quote

  • The full elevation, square on, from far enough back to see the whole shopfront.
  • Overall width and height of the area the sign can occupy.
  • Obstructions — downpipes, lights, security cameras, awnings, alarm boxes.
  • Height above ground, which decides whether the install needs a ladder, a scaffold or a scissor lift. This changes the price more than the sign does.
  • The surface — a close-up is worth including. Brick, render, timber and composite panel all take different fixings.
  • Power, if the sign is illuminated. Where is the nearest supply?

Include something of known size in the frame — a door, a brick course, a person. It lets us sanity-check the measurements against the photo, and it catches transposed digits before they become fabricated aluminium.

For vehicles

Photograph each side square on, plus the rear. Note the make, model and year — panel shapes vary more than people expect between model years, and a template that fits a 2019 van may not fit a 2023 one. Door handles, fuel flaps and body creases all affect where graphics can sit.
