Request this orderThe construction sign a site has to have, without a designer or an upload. Choose the sign, type the company name and the numbers, and watch it set itself in the preview; we produce it on 5mm corflute close to where it is going and you approve a proof before it prints. The principal contractor sign carries exactly what NSW and Queensland require on a project of $250,000 or more — name, phone, after-hours number, site office — the rule is here.

Common questions
How much does a construction site sign cost?
Five 600 × 900mm site signs are $160 including GST and delivery, with the artwork set from your details, and $24.70 each at ten. Site signs are sold in fives, from 5 to 30. Four corner eyelets add $2.20 per sign and the 1200 × 900mm size adds $14.30. It is the same board at the same price as our corflute signs; what you are not paying for is a designer.
What has to be on a principal contractor sign?
In NSW and Queensland: the principal contractor’s name, its telephone contact numbers including an after-hours number, and the location of the site office if there is one, all clearly visible from outside the site. That is the whole of clause 308 in both states’ WHS Regulations, and it applies to construction work costing $250,000 or more. The principal contractor sign here has a field for each, with the after-hours number required.
What other construction signage do you make?
The rest of the fence: site safety signs (the whole safety board, with your details filled in), directional signs for the site entry and deliveries, owner-builder signs, and mesh fence wraps with your name along the hoarding. All of it can go on one order and one delivery.
Do I need to upload artwork?
No. Choose the sign, type the details, and the artwork is set from them — the checkout will not ask you for a file. The one exception is your logo: choose it here to see the strip it takes at the foot of the sign, and the checkout asks you to attach that one file so we can place it at print size.
How long do construction site signs take?
Construction site signs take 2-4 working days from payment, delivered. Need it sooner? Ask — a tighter date is quoted per job — talk to us or put the date on the order request. Because the artwork is set from your details there is no file to check first, so the proof usually goes out the same business day the order lands.
What size should a site sign be?
600 × 900mm portrait is the standard board for a fence or hoarding and is legible from the footpath. Use 1200 × 900mm on a main road, where the sign is read from a moving car. The rule is roughly 10mm of letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance — the viewing-distance guide has the table.
Can I order the same sign for the next site?
Yes. Your order confirmation lists everything you typed; reply to it with the new site office location and we set the next one, or place a new order in two minutes with the details you already have. The company name, phone and after-hours number do not change from site to site — only the site office and the project line do.
Where do you deliver site signs?
Australia-wide, at the same price in every state. Corflute is bulky and light, and couriers charge by volume rather than weight, so an interstate run can cost more than the signs on it; we make them close to where most are going, which keeps the turnaround at 2-4 working days, and allow 1 to 2 working days longer outside NSW, QLD and VIC. The rules explained on this page are the New South Wales and Queensland ones; Victoria's sit under its own OHS regulations, and we will add them once checked.
What happens if the sign arrives wrong?
Tell the desk as soon as it lands, with a photo. If the fault is in the making, it is remade under the reprints policy; if a number was typed wrong and approved on the proof, we say so straight and reprint it at the normal price. When your print arrives wrong walks through what to photograph.
Do you make signage for a construction site, building company signs and custom building signs?
Yes. These are rigid board signs with your company name, licence and contact details, in the sizes on this page, delivered to the site or your office. For what a site must display in New South Wales and Queensland, see our construction site signs guide, and check it against your own approval.

What the law asks for, in one paragraph each
Reviewed September 2026
New South Wales. Under clause 308 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017, the principal contractor for a construction project — construction work costing $250,000 or more — must install signs that show the principal contractor’s name and telephone contact numbers, including an after-hours number, and the location of the site office if there is one, and that are clearly visible from outside the workplace. The Principal contractor sign above carries each of those, and nothing else is required on it.
Queensland. Section 308 of the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 is the same clause, word for word, with the same $250,000 threshold: it is the model law both states adopted.
Licence numbers. NSW Fair Trading requires the contractor licence number on advertising for residential building work, and a site sign is treated as advertising; the QBCC requires a licensee’s licence number on site signage in Queensland. The sign has a field for it. Confirm the licence-number rule with NSW Fair Trading or the QBCC for your own work before relying on it — this page is general orientation, not advice, and the two paragraphs above are the regulation read plainly rather than a substitute for it.
You will see a proof before it prints
No login required
The preview on this page shows the words at the sign’s proportions. Once the order is in, we set the print file from what you typed and send a proof link that opens on your phone. Zoom in, check every digit of the after-hours number, and send it back if anything is wrong. Nothing goes to press until you approve it.
If it comes back wrong against an approved proof, that is on us. If it matches the proof you approved, it is not — which is why the proof is worth two minutes of your time.
