Size changes the price more than anything except quantity
A flyer is priced by how much of a press sheet it takes, so the size is not a cosmetic choice. At 1000 flyers on 150gsm, one side:
- DL, 99 × 210mm — $0.12 each. The letterbox and counter standard.
- A5, 148 × 210mm — $0.14 each. Roughly half an A4 page.
- A4, 210 × 297mm — $0.22 each. A full page, and about twice a DL.
A DL is the cheapest way to put something in a hand or a letterbox, which is why it is the default here and in most of the trade.
Why 115gsm costs more than 150gsm
This surprises people, and it is worth understanding because it is not a mistake.
150gsm is the weight the entire trade buys by the pallet, so it is the cheapest sheet on the floor. 115gsm is a lighter, specialty stock bought in small quantities — and small quantities cost more per sheet regardless of how little the paper weighs. Each stock here is priced as its own list rather than as a surcharge on 150gsm, because that is how the press charges for them.
So if you are choosing a lighter stock to save money, it will not. Choose 115gsm when you want a flyer that feels light and disposable, and 250gsm or 300gsm when you want one that feels like it is worth keeping. Paper weights explained sets out what each weight is for.
What is not in that figure
Delivery. Delivery is included in this price — Australia-wide, with no freight line at the cart and nothing added later. Allow 1 to 2 working days longer outside NSW, QLD and VIC. Your complete delivered price is confirmed before you pay.
Distribution. Printing flyers and getting them into letterboxes are separate jobs, and the second usually costs more than the first. Our letterbox drop calculator sizes a run against a suburb before you order, so you are not printing 5000 for a catchment that holds 1800.
Artwork, sometimes. Setting up supplied artwork is free with every print order. Design made from nothing is quoted per job.
How to read anyone’s flyer price
- What size? A DL and an A4 are both “a flyer” and one is about twice the other. A price without a size is not a price.
- One side or two? Unlike business cards, a second side on a flyer is a real cost, and a quote that does not say is usually quoting one.
- What stock? 150gsm is standard. Lighter is not cheaper here, for the reason above.
- Per flyer, or the total? Per-flyer figures are almost always the top of the ladder.
- Including GST and delivery? The two most common ways a quote comes in under another one.
Common questions
How much does it cost to print 1000 flyers in Australia?
1000 DL flyers on 150gsm printed one side are $115.50 including GST, which is $0.12 each, delivered in 2-4 working days from payment. 500 are $94.50 and 2500 are $164.50. Delivery is included in those prices.
What size are flyers in Australia?
DL is 99 × 210mm and the most common, A5 is 148 × 210mm and A4 is 210 × 297mm. At 1000 on 150gsm one side, a DL is $0.12 each, an A5 $0.14 and an A4 $0.22 — a flyer is priced by how much of a press sheet it takes, so size moves the price more than anything except quantity.
Why does 115gsm cost more than 150gsm?
Because 150gsm is the weight the whole trade buys by the pallet and 115gsm is a specialty sheet bought in small quantities, which costs more per sheet whatever it weighs. Each stock is priced as its own list rather than as a surcharge, because the press charges for them that way. Choosing a lighter stock to save money does not work.
What is the minimum flyer order?
250 flyers, from $78.65 including GST. Below that the press setup dominates the price so completely that the per-flyer figure stops being meaningful.
Is it cheaper to print flyers double-sided or two separate flyers?
Double-sided, by a wide margin. A second side is one more pass on a sheet that is already being printed and cut; a second flyer is a second job with its own setup, its own stock and its own delivery. If the message needs two faces, put them on one flyer.
How long does flyer printing take?
2-4 working days from payment, delivered Australia-wide (allow 1 to 2 working days longer outside NSW, QLD and VIC). Letterbox distribution, if you need it, is arranged separately and adds its own lead time.
