What the shape does to the price
The same 500 stickers, at about 5 cm, in each shape:
| Shape | Size | 500, delivered |
|---|---|---|
| Square | 5 × 5 cm | $170.10 |
| Circle | 5 cm | $183.10 |
| Die-cut (cut to your outline) | 5 × 5 cm | $183.10 |
| Kiss-cut (on a backing square) | 5 × 5 cm | $209.10 |
| Rectangle | 5 × 7.5 cm | $248.10 |
Square is the cheapest because it is cut with straight blades on a sheet of the same shapes. A circle or a die-cut shape follows a curve, which is slower to cut and leaves more waste between stickers, so it costs a little more at every quantity. Kiss-cut cuts through the sticker but not the backing, so it peels from a square of paper — handy for handing out, and the dearest of the four at 5 cm.
Why the per-sticker price falls so fast
The press, the cutter and the file all have to be set up whether you print ten stickers or five thousand, and on a small run that setup is most of the price. Once the sheet is running, each extra sticker is a little vinyl and ink. That is why 10 stickers cost $32.10 and a hundred cost $83.10: ten times the stickers for less than three times the money.
The practical rule: decide the most you would use in a year, and price that as well as the number you need this week. Stickers keep for years in a drawer, and the second order costs the setup again.
What moves the price, and what does not
Quantity moves it most, for the reason above. Size moves it next: a sticker twice as wide uses four times the vinyl, so a 10 cm square costs well over a 5 cm one. Shape adds a little, as the table shows.
Finish does not. Matt, gloss and clear vinyl are the same price here. Clear is for a sticker that should show the surface behind it — a window, a jar, a bottle.
For bottles and jars by the thousand, labels on a roll suit a hand-applicator or a labelling machine and start at $206.25 for 1000.
What is in the price
Delivery is included, Australia-wide. Setting up your artwork is free with the order. A die-cut sticker needs a cut line around the shape: the free cut contour generator draws one from your file in the browser, and the sticker size visualiser shows a size at real scale on your screen.
How to compare sticker quotes
- The same quantity. “From 9c each” is a 5000 price. Ask for the total at the number you want.
- The same size. A 5 cm square uses over a third more vinyl than a 4 cm one, before anything else.
- The same cut. Square, die-cut and kiss-cut are three prices. A die-cut quote should name the outline it will cut.
- GST and delivery. Every figure on this page includes both. Many sticker prices online include neither.
- The material. Vinyl lasts outdoors; paper stickers do not, and they should be much cheaper.
Common questions
How much do 100 custom stickers cost?
100 square stickers at 5 × 5 cm are $83.10 including GST and delivery. 500 are $170.10 and 1000 are $282.10.
What is the cheapest way to print stickers?
Square stickers at a modest size, in the largest quantity you will actually use. Square is the cheapest shape to cut, size drives the vinyl, and the setup is the same whatever the count — so 500 costs far less per sticker than 50.
What is the difference between die-cut and kiss-cut?
A die-cut sticker is cut right through to its own outline, so each one comes away as a separate shape. A kiss-cut sticker is cut through the vinyl but not the paper backing, so your shape peels off a square of backing paper — easier to hand out and to print a message on the back.
What is the smallest order?
10 stickers, from $29.10 delivered. It is a good way to see the colour and the size before ordering hundreds.
How long do stickers take?
2-4 working days from payment, delivered. Payment follows your proof approval, so the clock starts when the artwork is right.
